Mid Summer Backyard Update!!!!

We can not believe summer and our stay at Chatfield State Park is half way over.  Don't know about you but our summer has been hot and dry.  You have probably heard about the devastating fires throughout Colorado, especially the Black forest fire just south of us where over 500 homes were destroyed.  We have not had any fires in the state park mainly because we have a total fire ban throughout the state park including, no smoking outside of a vehicle or camper.  But the hot dry weather has not stopped us from enjoying ourselves.  We have stayed busy with our volunteer duties and our kids and grandkids have included us in their lives.  At the end of the day, we have discovered that we are getting older and sleep comes very easily.
After our last post we have celebrated Pat's birthday, our 36th anniversary, Mothers and Fathers Day, July 4th and David's birthday, not to mention the many days and nights with the family just enjoying life.  Every week is another adventure and we are soaking up every minute with Kris, David, Amy and the Super Ks - Kasey and Karsten!

Celebrating Pat's birthday at Kris and Amy's --of course those two little guys were never far from Grandma!

David's new place has a kitchen to die for and he is a great cook.

Kasey and Karsten really enjoy picking on Uncle David

Kris plays on two softball teams, one for his job at Coors and one to drink his Coors with his friends, at least the beer drinking is after the game.  To all of our friends who have children or grandchildren playing baseball or softball.  We are following how well they are doing...with Kris we are following how much he celebrates his wins and losses.

It seems that after every get together our family takes a walk - no better place than Chatfield State Park to enjoy an evening walk.

July 4th was on a Thursday so the family spent the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th at our campsite.  We had a great time with 3 dogs, 5 adults, and 2 young boys and yes we fell asleep very early on Sunday night.

Not the swimming pool we had at our house but Kasey enjoyed our little pool just as much!  Don't you wish you had his energy?

Karsten has no fear -- running and jumping into the 8 inches of water.

A little Sake for David on his birthday at the Hibachi restaurant, the show, food and company was just outstanding!  Good choice David!

The presentation even got Karsten's attention.  Kasey and Karsten enjoyed the show more than the adults.

We can not end this blog without thanking our family for making this summer such a wonderful experience.  For the last 6 years we have traveled throughout this country, every place is unique and the friends and family we visited have treated us like part of their family.  But our kids have gone overboard to ensure we are enjoying our Colorado backyard. Thank you David, Kris and Amy and thank you Kasey and Karsten --- we love you!!!
We are at our half way point in this adventure and are making plans to leave after George's maintenance treatments in September.  We will be heading south to Tucson through Albuquerque.  We want to visit with a very special little baby girl, who has bravely fought everyday of her young life.   Little Emme is the daughter of Carrie Graue and the granddaughter of Tom and MaryAnn Graue.  She is getting stronger every day and we can not wait to see her.  After our visit with Emme (and of course Tom and MaryAnn) we will be coming back to Colorado for the holidays.  David has said he will host the family Thanksgiving so we can expect a great meal.  This Christmas will be special with Kasey and Karsten now old enough to understand all the celebrations of the holiday season.  Where to go in January??  Any suggestions???  We are not sure which direction we should drive....whatever direction it might be we are sure that it will be another adventure.
