Summer has arrived at Chatfield State Park

We went from a wintry Spring to a wonderful Summer and the good times have come to Chatfield State Park.  We really did not know what to expect, staying in Colorado this summer.   We didn't know how often we would see the kids or grand kids, what we would be doing, or if we would even enjoy camp hosting again.  We know our kids have rich and full lives, they are the poster children for putting 10 pounds of flour in a 5 pound bag.  But they have really stepped up and have come out to Chatfield almost every week or weekend to spend time with Mom and Dad.  We have managed to pick up the grand kids for some special time at the motorhome, had a few campfires with the family, a few dinners at the motorhome and at each of the boys homes, went out on Kris and Amy's boat, had a few relaxing walks around the lake with the entire family, and of course drank a few beers and solved the world's problems.  We also helped David move into a really really nice apartment from his not so great apartment.  He is now very close to his work (a real plus in the morning and evening rush hours), still is close to light rail (for partying downtown without worrying about driving), and has a kitchen to die for (he is really a good cook if you can get him to prepare you a meal).

It has also been a busy time for us.  Our volunteer duties are somewhat demanding (hope we get used to actually doing manual labor soon), but we have met some really interesting people.  Our busy day is Sunday which starts about 8:00 and we get done around 1:00 but the other four days are relative slow so we get a chance to go out and just talk to the other RVers .  It is really amazing the variety of people who love to travel and camp in their RVs or tent camp.  We have met retired executives, brew masters, pilots, government workers, salesmen, business people , amateur RC enthusiasts , hot air balloon enthusiasts, mechanics, and even some RVers who actually still work.

Hope you enjoy our pictures, George bought a new camera because he said the pictures did not do justice to the blog.   That is his story and he is sticking to it.

Grandma with the boys and Amy (sneaking in the picture) on the boat.

Grandma and Karsten...he was supposed to be a little sick.  Guess Grandma makes all well!

Kasey at the bat!  Both grand boys are getting pretty good at hitting the ball but I think this was a swing and a miss.

A great night for a campfire, Pat staying up past sunset with David.

A little windy but what a great place to go for long walks and reconnect.

There is always time for golf.  Mom and Kris waiting to tee off.

Amy knows how to throw a birthday party.  Pat is celebrating her 21st birthday in style.

A little cuddling time for Grandma with Kasey/

David, Kris and Amy solving the world's problems...one beer at a time.

One of our joys, picking up the boys and listening to them explaining their world to us.

Life has been really good to us, but we think the last two months have really been special.  We are reconnecting with David, Kris and Amy plus we get to watch Kasey and Karsten grow each and everyday.  Hope you stay tuned for our backyard adventure here in Colorado.
