KASEY'S FIRST CHRISTMAS

THE NEW CANNODE FAMILY
Kris, Amy and little Kasey

Amy's Christmas Present

HELP! They are going to run the train over me!

We are spending Christmas day with Kris, Amy and Kasey. They arrived home with Kasey from Steamboat Springs around 3:30 on Christmas day to join Bob and Donna, and us for a Christmas lasagna dinner (not a traditional meal but one everyone wanted). Of course the main attraction was Kasey (not the meal) and he did not disappoint! Starting on Monday we will be watching over Kasey (we have to --- did you see the train in the picture above) until we leave Colorado on New Years Eve.

On New Years Eve we will start out for Texas (Corpus Christi)and warmer weather. We should arrive NLT January 4, 2010. Bob and Donna will join us on this trip. We will be there unless we decide the weather is not to our liking or March whichever comes first. We are looking for the beach and golf courses for the next few months until we return to watch over Kasey for a couple of weeks in March. April will see us on the road again but our plans are not solid yet so who knows where we will be after April. Watch out it could be heading toward YOU!

Until we post again.... Have fun and live life to the fullest, remember we only have one go around at this life!

Remembering our Friend - Frank

It is a very heavy heart that we said good bye to our very dear friend of the last 19 years. Frank Becker left us to rejoin his wife, Darla on October 25th. Frank had been diagnosed with cancer about a year ago and suffered through the chemo and radiation treatments and two stomach surgeries but could not fight any longer. Frank was 67 years young and will be missed by not only his family but the many friends he touched with his sharp wit and very conservative political viewpoints. Never one to back away when he thought he was right Frank was the man everyone can strive to emulate regardless of their convictions. He will be sitting up in heaven with Darla watching over us as we travel around this old country, a passion he never got to fully realize. We were so glad that he was able to make one last trip in his motorhome to join us in Las Vegas for our son's wedding in May of this year. Frank is one of those people who touch your life and you will never forget his name or his outlook on life. We want to say to those who knew Frank, we share your loss and for those who never got the opprotunity to meet this old retired Navy guy, well you missed a great guy who would give you the shirt off his back if you need his help. Go with God friend!

Our Home in Las Vegas

April and Pat on a hike

Morrow Lake boat trip

Sorry about that 1st time problems ....

This a continuation of the Our Backyard - The Beginning

Cureacanti Creek Trail

As I wrote earlier and published by mistake, these are some of thepics of the area around our campground in Cureacanti NRA (which is near Gunnison, CO). I hope you will excuse my mistakes and just enjoy our attempt at keeping you up to date. We will be leaving the Rockies at the end of this month and head for family in Ohio for a couple of weeks than back to doctor's appointments in Colorado. We will be heading to Albuquequer in late October and to Texas in December thru Feb, (those plans might change if we don't like Corpus Christi or the weather turns bad but we will keep you posted. Until next time: Please stay healthy and safe! Enjoy life to the fullest and don't let anyone tell you how to live your life!

Our Backyard - the Beginning

We have decided to go electronic and publish a blog of our travels so our friends and family can see where we are and what we find interesting in this great land of ours. We changed our backyard scenery from this backyard in Westminister (our pool in March 03) to have the entire USA backyard as our new play area.
Recent History: For those of you who do not know, we sold the house in May 08 and have not looked back since. Now that Bob and Donna Dembinski, our friends for about 30 years, are traveling with us on our journey we thought it was about time to keep everyone up to speed on our activities. We are now in the Rocky Mountains at Cureacanti National Recreation Area. We all decided to camphost and have been here since leaving Las Vegas on May 15th. We have had fun and met a lot of really nice people but don't know if we will be doing this again--you might say the jury is still out.
We are now into hiking and have met Doug and April Allmond, retired ABC cameraman at the White House, who also enjoy hiking and we have had the wonderful experience of hiking some of the world's most beautiful scenery. It was actually Doug who said, "Isn't it great that we own all of this" as we viewed mountain lakes and mountain peaks. Hence the title, "Our backyard".
This is a one of the pictures Doug took that is representative of what we get to see everyday.
